{"id":41582,"date":"2021-02-09T16:22:19","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T16:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.glyntraian.org.uk\/?p=41582"},"modified":"2021-02-09T16:22:19","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T16:22:19","slug":"wrexham-council-executive-endorses-disposal-of-ysgol-pontfadog-site-for-low-cost-housing-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.glyntraian.org.uk\/?p=41582","title":{"rendered":"Wrexham Council Executive Endorses Disposal of Ysgol Pontfadog Site  for Low-cost Housing Development"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Glyntraian\nCommunity Council (GCC) welcomes the decision taken today by Wrexham Council\nExecutive Board to accept the recommendation of the Local Authority\u2019s Corporate\nLand and Buildings Strategy Group to dispose of the former Ysgol Pontfadog site\nto a Registered Social Landlord for development as affordable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GCC\nvoted in March last year to accept an independent Feasibility Study &amp;\nRecommendation Report, jointly commissioned with Welsh Rural Development\nAgency, Cadwyn Clwyd, which recommended the former school site be developed for\na small number of low-cost starter homes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nGCC vote was carried by 7-1 and followed a rigorous six-month community\nconsultation exercise, including an options survey sent to all 323 homes in the\ncommunity where housing was regarded as being of the highest benefit to the\ncommunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WCBC\u2019s\nExecutive Board accepted today the Report\u2019s recommendation that any low-cost\nhousing on the site be tied into a local lettings and allocation policy in\nperpetuity and should include a community benefit embedded into the\ndevelopment. &nbsp;The Board also acknowledged\nCllr Trevor Bates\u2019 request made on behalf of the local community that the old\nschool bell and certain items from the school building itself be kept. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Glyntraian\nCommunity Council Chairman, Cllr Graham Barrow said: \u201cWe now look forward to\nworking closely with whichever Registered Social Landlord acquires the\nsite.&nbsp; Our expectation is the developers will consult widely with local\nresidents.
