VE Day 75th Anniversary Celebrations

We are delighted to announce we will be delivering a *strictly* remote VE Day celebration on Bank Holiday Friday 8th May to commemorate the 75th anniversary of victory in Europe by the Allied forces in WWII.

Celebrations will start with an air raid siren sounding from the Oliver Jones Memorial Hall at 6pm (please share this information with your friends and neighbours in order to minimise alarm!)  Music from the era will be broadcast from loud speakers from 6pm until 6:30pm in Dolywern and Llwynmawr and then broadcast again in Pontfadog from around 6:45pm until 7:15pm.

Volunteers will also be delivering as many celebration cup-cakes as possible during the day to offer a fillip to those in our community deserving of some much-needed good cheer. This will be done in accordance with all Covid-19 safe distancing guidelines.  Again details can be found on the Community Agent Facebook page.

This is a strictly non-attendance event. Please do not come to the Oliver Jones Memorial Hall. The musical celebration will be live streamed on the Community Agent Facebook page. Our thanks to Colin ‘Skyman’ for all his help in staging this virtual celebration alongside our Community Agent, Davena Davies, and all the volunteer bakers and distributors.

We wish you all a happy and safe VE Day Bank Holiday.
